AluDEK Master PRO Concreting platform L

A new federal senior center is currently being built in Altheim, Upper Austria, which is specially designed to meet the needs of people with dementia. With an investment volume of around 16 million euros, the new building will offer numerous modern facilities. These include 99 single rooms, an in-house kitchen, a multi-purpose hall for church services and events and a dedicated gym and therapy room.

A company childcare center and a recreation and relaxation room are provided for employees. Residents can spend time in the shared flats with loggias or in the entrance area, which invites them to linger. A garden area and special colour schemes for easier orientation create a pleasant living environment.

PORR Bau GmbH relies on RINGER rental

For this project, the contractor PORR Bau GmbH opted for tried-and-tested formwork including accessories from the RINGER hire park.

Our rental solution offers numerous advantages, including the flexible rental period, a huge variety of products and the consistently high quality of the formwork systems.

If rental material is purchased within 10 months, 100 % rental credit is also possible.

Wall formwork for record shuttering times

The Master PRO single-sided steel frame formwork with an Alkus all-plastic facing was chosen for the construction of the walls of the basement and the three upper storeys. The system impresses with a concrete pressure of 80 kN/m² and the enormous time savings during shuttering and striking. This is made possible by the single-sided anchoring and only 2 rows of anchors per 3m formwork height. The wall thickness can be adjusted in a single step.

For the wall height of 3.83 m on the 1st floor, Master PRO panels measuring 90*300 cm were combined horizontally with 240*300 cm upright panels. From the 1st floor upwards, the window beams (lintel) were also concreted together with the ceiling. For concreting, the construction was shuttered with narrow, horizontal Master PRO panels.

The RINGER concreting platform „L“ was also used. It is ready for assembly, easy to attach to the formwork using a crane and guarantees maximum safety on site thanks to its automatic excavation safety device and impregnated wooden decking.

AluDEK: Fast and lightweight slab formwork

The ceiling thicknesses in the federal senior center are 22 to 25 cm. The total concreted area from the ground floor upwards is 1,675 m² per floor and was realised in several construction phases for the three upper floors. The basement comprises a concreted area of 410 m².

The fast AluDEK system from RINGER was used to form the slabs. This slab formwork combines the advantages of panel slab formwork with those of girder formwork and is characterised by its high efficiency and speed. The lightweight aluminium formwork elements (16 kg/m²) enable easy handling and quick assembly, while the modular design can cope with complex layouts and slab thicknesses of up to 35 cm without additional supports. In addition, 20kN ceiling props with a maximum extension length of 300 and 400 cm were used.

"Eazy" pass areas balanced

AluDEK support rails and formwork panels were used in combination with the innovative Eazyboard to level out the fitting areas of the ceiling formwork in the federal senior center.

Eazyboard is a particularly simple system for filling levelling and fitting areas in slab formwork. It is specially optimised for the RINGER AluDEK and DEKplus formwork systems, but can be used for all slab formwork. The main advantage of Eazyboard is its unlimited reusability without waste. In contrast to conventional formwork panels, which are often only used once in fitting areas, Eazyboard can be used again immediately after stripping and cleaning. This not only saves material but also valuable working time.

Eazyboard consists of galvanised sheet steel and a mounted fixing rail. It is hooked into the AluDEK lowering heads or DEKplus support rail adapters like a normal support rail. The free sheet metal panel is placed on the formwork facing of the slab formwork system and secured with nails, allowing gaps of up to 45 cm in width to be bridged continuously.

Safety on site

The required fall protection was partially realised with the RINGER adjustable slab edge formwork. This was fixed in the existing anchor holes of the Master PRO wall formwork using prestressing steel and a combination panel. Horizontal 30*300 cm Master PRO panels were used as formwork. The system therefore offers 2 advantages in one. RINGER parapet clamps were also used as additional securing at the slab edge.

Completion of the new Altheim federal senior center is planned for 2025.
