A four-storey warehouse is being built in Rum near Innsbruck for My Place Selfstorage. The construction project will create urgently needed storage space in a central location. The basement and the first three floors will offer over 8,000 m² of self-storage space. The ground floor will also house a grocery store with up to 800 m² of retail space, complemented by an underground car park and outdoor parking spaces. Office and commercial space is planned for the recessed fourth floor.
Efficient ceiling formwork process with system
The RINGER ceiling formwork system family was used to construct the approximately 9,300 m² of ceiling space, consisting of the large-area DEKplus ceiling tables and the handy AluDEK modular ceiling formwork. The combination of speed, flexibility and safety was crucial for the rapid progress of construction.
Around 3,300 m² of ceiling area was formed in the basement. On the ground floor and first floor, the ceiling area was 1,800 m² each. Due to the increased room height, additional supporting scaffolding was used for the formwork on a partial area of around 700 m² on these two floors. The second floor comprised a further ceiling area of approximately 2,200 m².
The efficiency of the system was particularly evident on the upper floors: the formwork was installed in sections – one half of the ceiling was formed, reinforced and concreted, while the second section was formed immediately afterwards. This tactically coordinated approach enabled an almost continuous construction process without any significant downtime.
The high flexibility and ease of use of the formwork system played a key role in this. At peak times, up to 1,500 m² of DEKplus and 500 m² of AluDEK formwork elements were in use simultaneously.
Formwork removal made easy with a displacement trolley
The DEKmobil was used for the rapid removal of formwork from large ceiling elements. Thanks to its compact design and transverse travel function, it could be manoeuvred effortlessly between the supports – ideal for working in confined formwork areas.
Safety at all levels
The tried-and-tested RINGER side protection grid was used for fall protection. It can be installed without tools and meets the requirements of ÖNORM EN 13374 Class A. The integrated foot guard provided additional protection at the ceiling edges.
The opening of the new My Place Selfstorage facility is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025.
