In Vienna's Brigittenau district, directly on the beautiful Danube, a new ÖBB goods supply centre has been completed. This ambitious construction project, realised by STEINER BAU GmbH as the executing construction company, is divided into several functional areas: A spacious logistics hall, a loading yard, a two-storey building with workshops, office, kitchen and canteen as well as a 270 metre long warehouse.

Renting instead of buying

STEINER BAU GmbH relied on formwork and accessories from the RINGER rental pool for the construction of the building complex. The RINGER rental of formwork elements and scaffolding solutions offers significant advantages:

> Customised planning according to your requirements
> Quick start for construction projects, without long delivery times
> Flexibility in the rental period
> No acquisition costs
> 100% rental credit when purchasing rental material within 10 months

Rented formwork or scaffolding from RINGER also fulfils the highest quality and safety standards, which is crucial for reliability on the construction site. In addition, RINGER offers an extensive range of systems to optimally fulfil the specific needs of each construction project.

Efficient large-area formwork with Steel Master

The wall formwork for the buildings had to meet high demands in terms of flexibility and robustness as well as the tight time frame for construction, which presented a planning and logistical challenge. Steel Master from RINGER was ultimately chosen as the solution. With a maximum fresh concrete pressure of 80kN/m², this steel frame formwork is designed for the toughest applications.

In order to complete the very large wall panels quickly, various Steel Master element sizes were planned in such a way that several element composites, each with a formwork element area of around 27m² and the appropriate window recesses, could be produced on site.

After each concreting section, these element composites were lifted by crane to the next position. RINGER Push-Pull Props were used for the final installation of the wall formwork.

Clever combined side protection

The RINGER Side Protection Grid was used for fall protection at the slab edge of the building shell. This safety solution impresses with its wide range of installation options and proves to be universally applicable for formwork, building edges and staircases. The integrated foot guard provides additional safety at the edge of the ceiling.

In order to use the side protection as formwork at the same time, the Side Protection Grid was used with adjustable slab edge formwork. This meant that the appropriate formwork elements could be easily integrated directly into the Side Protection Grid. This combination enabled a safe and, above all, fast solution during the slab shuttering process.

Double Railing Scaffolding and Climbing Platforms

RINGER Climbing Platforms were used to carry out the reinforcement and formwork on the upper floor. These were easily attached by crane to the points prepared with Power Comp and mushroom head anchors.

The Double Railing Scaffolding was installed on the Climbing Platforms to create the necessary reinforcement for the wall formwork. This façade scaffolding is characterised by simple assembly and a small number of components, which enabled quick and uncomplicated erection. Once the work was complete, the scaffolding was dismantled to make room for the outer Steel Master wall formwork elements, which were placed directly on the Climbing Platforms.

PAX Formwork

The office and workshop building was planned as a reinforced concrete structure without a basement with beams to create spacious, column-free and versatile spaces. The timber roof structure for the warehouse and the delivery yard rests on square reinforced concrete columns.

These columns were formed using the RINGER PAX Formwork. This is a completely finished formwork system that is ready for immediate use without prior assembly.

Experience from various construction sites shows that two workers can erect the PAX Formwork ready for concreting in a maximum of 30 minutes.

The entire construction project was completed and put into operation in 2023.
